Field Drainage & Farm Tiling

Field drainage — also called farm tiling — removes excess water from your fields through a network of underground drainage tile, so you can plant earlier, harvest sooner, and grow more per acre. We install tile from 3″ to 18″ using GPS automatic grade control for exact depth and grade, even in low, hard-to-drain spots, and set up for deep trenching to reach the fall your field needs.

  • Get into the field to plant and harvest sooner
  • Higher yields — more bushels per acre
  • Less topsoil erosion & deeper root development
  • GPS maps of your tile for future reference

Demolition & Site Clearing

Need an old barn, building, or concrete slab gone? We handle demolition and site clearing for complete building sites, trees, concrete, and on-site burial of debris. Our excavator's hydraulic thumb grabs, lifts, and hauls heavy material efficiently, and our bulldozer's 6-way blade leaves your site level and ready for whatever's next.

  • Complete building sites, barns & outbuildings
  • Concrete removal & on-site debris burial
  • 6-way dozer for clean finish grading

Septic System Installation

We install complete septic systems from start to finish — including gravity flow and lift station setups. A typical installation is a 1,500-gallon dual-compartment concrete tank paired with a 300-foot drain field, built to last for decades. Under Iowa's Time of Transfer law, any property on a septic system must be inspected before it's sold — if yours doesn't pass, we can install a system that meets today's code.

  • 1,500-gallon dual-compartment tanks
  • Time of Transfer inspections & code upgrades

Testimonials

What Our Customers Say

Brian tiled 80 acres for us and we were in the field a full week earlier the next spring. The GPS maps he gave us have been worth their weight in gold.

Doug M.

Had an old barn that was ready to fall on someone. Heinsohn had it down and the site graded clean in a day and a half. Fair price, no surprises.

Randy S.

Called on a Saturday when our field was holding water and Brian was out looking at it that afternoon. You don't find that kind of service anymore.

Kevin & Lisa T.

Our septic failed the time-of-transfer inspection right before closing. Brian got a new system in fast and we closed on schedule.

Mark H.

Straightest, cleanest tile lines I've seen. The deeper trenching got fall on a spot three other guys said couldn't be drained.

Gary L.

They cleared a half mile of overgrown fence line and hauled everything off. Picked up almost two acres of farmable ground.

Tom W.

Competitively priced and they showed up when they said they would. Hauled in clay for our building pad and packed it right.

Steve R.

Emergency tile repair during planting — Brian dropped what he was doing and had us running again the same day.

Nate P.

Professional, honest, and they treat your ground like it's their own. We've used Heinsohn for three projects now.

Dan & Carol B.

Removed a big grove of dead trees and a concrete foundation on our acreage. Site looked better than we expected. Highly recommend.

Jeff K.

We're based in Storm Lake, Iowa and serve landowners throughout Buena Vista County and northwest Iowa — including Alta, Newell, Sioux Rapids, Albert City, Marathon, Rembrandt, Truesdale, Lakeside and Linn Grove — plus the surrounding Sac, Cherokee, Pocahontas and Clay counties.

Draining excess water lets the soil warm up and dry out faster, so roots grow deeper and you gain more days to plant and harvest. Iowa research has shown tiled fields can yield roughly 25–30% more corn and soybeans than comparable untiled ground, along with less erosion and reduced runoff.

We install tile from 3 inches up to 18 inches, with other sizes available on request. Using GPS automatic grade control, we set every line to precise depth and grade — even in low areas — and can provide GPS mapping so you always know where your tile runs.

Yes. Under Iowa's Time of Transfer law, a property served by a private septic system must be inspected before it's sold or the deed is transferred, and any substandard system must be brought up to code. If yours doesn't pass, we can install a compliant replacement.

We install complete gravity flow and lift station septic systems. A typical setup is a 1,500-gallon dual-compartment concrete tank with a 300-foot drain field, built to meet current Iowa standards and last for decades.

Yes. We handle demolition of complete building sites, barns, outbuildings, and concrete slabs. Our excavator's hydraulic thumb and 6-way dozer let us take structures down safely and grade the site clean afterward.

Yes. We remove trees of any size from fence lines and acreages and haul them away with our large trailers, opening up more usable ground along your field edges.
